rubber stamp...eh?

I always love them stamps since I was tiny. Can't afford to buy them nice ones, only the new ones. Whenever I have the opportunity, I'll just gawk at them. And dabbling in the What If stamp series. So what if the Malaysian stamps look like these? Will it cause an uproar? Or will it be fun?

MPs, your presence matters

By SHAILA KOSHY

Physical presence is needed for the usual voice vote. But now, a fellow MP shouting louder to compensate for an absent voice is not going to cut it any more. Hollow drums, as they say, do make louder noise. And since many are hollow between them ears...

STAND up and be counted, that will be the message constantly drummed into the minds of Members of Parliament of both the Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat. Their physical presence is crucial after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong opens the 12th Parliament tomorrow. After the battle was won and lost, let's see who'll end up winning the war for the people. And hope the people will be better off, if those loud promises from both divide are to be believed.

And since the Opposition make up 82 this time to Barisan’s 140, of whom only 79 are backbenchers, the latter cannot afford to play truant or the day’s sitting could be adjourned after just two hours, wasting the taxpayers’ hard-earned monies and drawing ire from the Whip and the public. Yeah, remember the few keywords there Members of Parliament, taxpayer's hard-earned monies...

Jilted nurse marries

KLUANG: Nurse Norlida Abdul Rahman made national headlines four years ago when she was jilted on her wedding day by a Kedah football player who informed her of his decision via text message.

Yesterday, Norlida, 27, who admitted she thought she could never trust another man, announced she had found love again by marrying Mohd Zaini Mohd Salim, 30, of Kampung Parit Kudus, Pontian. Way to go girl. And with a Pontian dude too. Woohoo...

The couple, both dressed in matching gold baju melayu and baju kurung, had their marriage solemnised by imam Kamsir Kardi at the Masjid Jamek Felda Ulu Dengar here.

They are expected to hold a wedding reception at the bride's house in Ulu Dengar at 2.30pm today, while another kenduri has been scheduled at the groom's house on Sunday.

Norlida acknowledged that her bad experience had left her wary of men.

But she added that Mohd Zaini, who entered her life a few weeks after her abandonment by Kedah striker Hasmawi Hassan on Dec 17 2004, had shown her what it felt like to be truly loved.
Wow, a few weeks? That's not too long, being wary that is. Bet that lady who forgot The Count of Monte Cristo and got hitched with his enemy waited a tad longer. Anyways, you just be happy now. And tis song's fer ya...

sexual healing...eh?

The wiki explains Sexual Harassment as harassment or unwelcome attention of a sexual nature. It includes a range of behavior from mild transgressions and annoyances to serious abuses, which can even involve forced sexual activity. Sexual harassment refers to persistent and unwanted sexual advances, typically in the workplace, where the consequences of refusing are potentially very disadvantageous to the victim. It involves unwanted and unwelcome, words, deeds, actions, gestures, symbols, or behaviors of a sexual nature that make the target feel uncomfortable. Gender and sexual orientation harassment fall into this family. Sexual harassment is considered a form of illegal discrimination in many countries, and is a form of abuse (sexual and psychological) and bullying.

The keyword here is unwelcome attention. It was certainly unwelcome then. But it's rather confusing now. The cops will investigate, regardless. Because reports are not supposed to be retracted after being made. The full investigation will take place. If the contents of the reports are true, the harasser would be liable. Otherwise the harassed risks lodging false reports.

Guan Eng: What's the fuss? WTF? Yeah, what's the fuss.

PETALING JAYA: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng yesterday said he was surprised by the negative responses to his appointment of Datuk Lee Kah Choon as director of Penang Development Corporation and investPenang.
"I don't understand why it received so much coverage and why so much pressure was created," he said.

"If we want to extend (a welcoming hand), why should it be criticised?"
Yeah, why indeed. Bitter losers, that is why.

Lee’s action ‘against BN spirit’

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Lee Kah Choon's decision to accept the posts of director of Penang Development Corporation and chairman of the executive committee of Invest-Penang is against the Barisan Nasional spirit, said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday. What spirit are you mumbling about dude? He's working for a state corporation, for the benefit of the people and the state. You should've accepted that fact with high spirits. The fact that the 'opposition' offered and elected one of your geeks to a high position, heavy responsibility job, at the same time having the opportunity to place a mechanism of check and balance in the otherwise 'opposition' domain. The fact that the 'opposition' is recognising talented people who can do the job regardless of their political affiliations. Are your Party willing to do that? Say electing the CEO position of Johor Corporation to say a PAS or PKR professional who can do a better job than your goons? Duh...

The Prime Minister, who is also Barisan chairman, said Lee should not have accepted the two posts offered by the Penang state government before conferring with the Gerakan leadership.

He said the former Gerakan deputy secretary-general should have first sought the views and decision of the party leadership on the offer. That might be his mistake, not discussing it with his Party first but accepting the job is definitely not.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam accused Lee of being an opportunist and urged Gerakan to take disciplinary action against him. Are you not an opportunist dude? The last we checked, you're everywhere groping limelights.

“Party members should continue supporting the party eventhough it is going through a rough patch. We should be rebuilding and strengthening the party, not adding more problems. Is he deserting the Party? Is he in any way destroying the Party by accepting? He is in fact helping the Party by promoting the willingness to work for the people instead of being myopic.

“We must accept the fact that we cannot enjoy good times every time and expect to go through rough times,” he said in Malacca. The good times will be the norm if y'all stop behaving like idiots and start working for the People and the Nation dude. Have a life...

Abdullah: Reforms not to win back public support

KUALA LUMPUR: The major reforms planned for the Judiciary and the Anti-Corruption Agency are not aimed at winning back support for the Barisan Nasional following its poor performance in the recent general election. Then what are they for? You need to do more to win back them support.

In dismissing such perceptions, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said if he had announced it before the election, his critics would say that he was doing it to win votes, and if he did not do it after, they would say that he had forgotten his promises. We don't need promises or announcements, dude. As them Nike ads say, just bloody do it, them things that are good for the Country and the People.

“I do not forget my promises. I will attend to them when the time comes,” Hope you're still in the office by then.

Dr M: Najib should not be PM

By CHOI TUCK WO

MANCHESTER: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he had second thoughts about Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak becoming Prime Minister as Najib had failed to speak up about the real reasons behind Barisan Nasional’s losses in the general election.

The former prime minister claimed that Najib was not “brave enough” to directly say anything that was not liked by his boss.

“We see that he is a penakut (coward). He is always saying, ‘yes sir, yes sir, saya sokong, saya sokong (I support, I support).”

He said, when the prime minister blamed Barisan’s losses on sabotage, Najib merely agreed to it.

Toe the line, or leave Umno

SABOTEURS. They are enemies from within or what the Malays call api dalam sekam, whose unsavoury practices, can weaken Umno and place the party in a bad light.

If their activities are left unchecked, they can even destroy the party. Are they not been doing that for a few decades already? Destroying the Party and the Country.

Umno does not need traitors during challenging times like this. The party instead needs members who place party interests above self. Are there any in the Party? Last we looked, everyone is for himself. Enriching themselves.

But why aren't reports pouring in this time? Try say, paying for each report that came in. You know the culture, something about having greasy palms. You know...

There is no point for candidates who lost in the last general election to point fingers at others without providing the evidence. Maybe they were sabotaging themselves? You know, like being a dumbass the previous term.

Talk alone is not enough. The disciplinary board has no power to initiate investigations without first getting a formal report, complete with evidence like the name, time and place of the alleged offences and also witnesses who can support the claims. So nothing can really substantiate all these sabotaging allegations? Not even one? Damn, how are we going to purge the bloated Party now?

So, what is actually preventing party members from lodging a formal complaint? To save their own skin? All contributed to the stupidities in the first place.

Nutritionists defend starfruit

By : Nisha Sabanayagam

KUALA LUMPUR: Nutritionists have jumped to the defence of the starfruit.
They were unanimous in challenging a medical expert's opinion that the fruit was dangerous to renal failure patients because of the presence of a neurotoxin and a high level of oxalic acid.

The experts said the poisoning of an elderly Malaysian visiting China was most likely due to pesticide contamination.

Star fruit can be poisonous for kidney patients

By AMANDA LEE

KUALA LUMPUR: All it takes is one fruit or 100ml of its juice and the ordinarily harmless star fruit becomes poison in a matter of hours for kidney patients.

University Malaya Medical Centre consultant nephrologist Prof Dr Tan Si-Yen said this was what had happened to Tang Gon Seang in China.

Malaysian in a coma in Shenzhen; two others said to have died

KUALA LUMPUR: A 66-year-old Malaysian, Tang Gon Seang, is among more than a dozen people who are in a coma after eating star fruits in Shenzhen province in China.

Wow! I know that some tropical fruits come in with such warnings as cold, heaty, prickly, thorny and such. But kill you? Wow! again. So what are those star fruits in Shenzhen?

Carambola?

Black sapote (Diospyros digyna)?

Japanese 'Fuyu' persimmon (Diospyros kaki)?

Pomegranate (Punica granatum)

Or the multi-coloured Star Apples (Chrysophyllum cainito)?

Red

Green

They should clarify what stary stary fruits consumed. We don't want those lost in translation reasons do we.

There have been many people disturbing my blog including hacking it but never mind, let them do so,” he said.

I made several comments and got reactions to them,” he told reporters after launching the 8th Malacca Twin Cities Convention here yesterday.

His blog, on current issues and the Pakatan Rakyat states, received over 2,000 comments over the past week.

You must be pulling me leg, Ms Paddy dear. Or worse, kissing somebody's behind. At least you know which side of your bread gets buttered.
